I see a viper green RS around, but this was wider and said  RSR. This was close to S Car Go and Hi Tec, both very good Porsche shops in Marin, so I tend to think it’s real and not a clone. Sounded very mean, some wide ass tires!

It was insane, sounded so mean it was almost like a V8. Older guy in it looked the part for being real. It could be a guy who wanted a very rare car and had it built to spec from a normal 911, I don’t like the Singer stuff, if I could have any Porsche it would be a 73' RSR.

Why would a Porsche connoisseur fit eff-ing Vitaloni Californian mirrors to his/her extremely rare car (only around four dozen were built) is beyond me, but...

To be honest it looks like a nice 2.8 RSR replica, but even so I don’t get why they put Californians on it.

Although it could be an RSR owned by a weirdo. One day I saw a very nice 2.7 RS with lots R bits, got to talk to the owner (“wow, nice replica huh”) and it turn e d out it was a real ‘73 RS lightweight whose first caretaker had decided it was still too heavy so after a week or so he took it back to Stuttgart to have the R bits installed. How cool is that?
The present owner was the son of late European Porsche club president. After his father had passed he had kept just a couple of cars of a truly mouthwatering Porsche collection - and this car (also Vipergrün!) was one of them.

It was super clean, it could be a fresh clone, no way to know, but this is Marin so anything is possible. If it’s real it was completely restored down to the bolts by the look of it. Tom Price has his collection office and maintenance garage about a mile from there too, he as a GTO. I have no idea where the bulk of his collection is kept. I’ve seen Miuras and a Pagani driving in the wild here. The Cars and Coffee can be pretty interesting, some crazy stuff is hiding in the hills.

2.8 RSRs have a wonderful sound . A r e a l o n e should have an exhaust s y s t e m with three outlets: two more or less straight ones i n t h e usual places and a small one on the left . The idea is that on the road you put two caps on the straight-through ones and gases exit through a muffler - h e n c e t h e l i t t l e s i d e w a y s p i p e .

Oh cool, my dad has a white 78 SC, I am not a Porsche expert. I have a 71' 240Z, orange, an equally bright color on a small coupe. Porsche maintenance seems insane to me, if I didn’t care about cost I guess I wouldn’t care! Given the funds though I wouldn’t mind one. I would like to build a Z 432R Datsun, with the DOHC Skyline motor, they only made 18 of those, sort of the RSR for Zs.

Seeing wide tires on a modern Porsche is expected; but to see them on these older 911's is too cool.
